Biographie
Zhechao Xie is a modern violist and a violist specialized in historical performance (baroque, classicism, romantism) from Suzhou, China. She is alumni by Tabea Zimmermann. She did the Soloist-Master for modern viola and baroque viola both subjects at the University of Arts in Berlin with Hartmut Rohde and Irmgard Huntgeburth. Since 2015 she studies baroque viola at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague with Enrico Gatti.
As a historical violist, she plays with many professional baroque ensembles, like Academia Montis Regalis in Italy with Alessandro De Marchi, Ambronay European Baroque Academy in France with Enrico Onofri, Les Arts Florissants William Christie, Academy Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, In 2015 she is invited by Dresdner Festspielorchester work together with Ivor Bolton and Isabelle Faust.
As a modern violist, Zhechao is active in various music festivals and masterclasses, coached by Nobuko Imai, Antoine Tamestit, Stefan Fehlandt, Thomas Riebl… she played as an academician in Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester. Her Quartett won the third prize of Haydn Chamber Music Competition in Shanghai. She won the First Prize of Ernst Viola Competition in Austria, In 2014 she is laureate of the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Ad Infinitum Foundation Scholarship. Now she plays as co-principal violist in Landestheater Detmold, Germany.
